Four Day Tree Removal on Highway 1 in Aptos thru 3/30

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY – A four-day tree removal project on Highway 1 in Aptos will take place beginning Monday, March 27 through Thursday, March 30 in the following locations:

  • The northbound No. 2 lane of Hwy. 1 will be closed from Rio Del Mar to State Park Drive on Monday, March 27 and Tuesday, March 28 from 10 am until 2 pm. Motorists can expect delays not to exceed 30 minutes.
  • The northbound No. 2 lane of Hwy. 1 will be closed from Grant Street to the Junction of State Route 9/River Street on Wednesday, March 29
    and Thursday, March 30 from 9 am until 3 pm. Motorists can expect delays not to exceed 15 minutes.

Electronic message boards have been posted to alert motorists of this roadwork and the CHP will be present to maintain a safe environment for everyone. This roadwork is being performed by the Santa Cruz South Maintenance and Santa Cruz Tree crews. This tree removal project is necessary to ensure the safety of all travelers.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.
