Highway 1 and 17 Overnight Closures Start 7/17

Sign Project in Santa Cruz to Bring Overnight Closures and Detours to Highways 1 & 17

A project to replace overhead signs in Santa Cruz above southbound Hwy. 17 and northbound Hwy. 1 will result in overnight closures beginning Sunday July 17.

The project location is just west of the Fishhook and overnight exit closures will affect travelers on southbound Hwy. 17 and northbound Hwy. 1.

This project is scheduled for five nights on the following schedule.

  • Sunday July 17 at 11:59 pm to Monday July 18 at 5 am
  • Monday July 18 at 11:59 pm to Tuesday July 19 at 5 am
  • Tuesday July 19 at 11:59 pm  to Wed. July 20 at 5 am
  • Wed. July 20 at 11:59 pm to Thursday July 21 at 5 am
  • Thursday July 21 at 11:59 pm to Friday July 22 at 5 am

Travelers will encounter a closure of the left two lanes marked “Ocean St. / Beaches” or the two right lanes marked “North 1 Half Moon Bay / Boulder Creek 9 during closure hours.

Message and directional signs will direct travelers to detours through city streets and a prompt return to their desired direction of travel.

Travelers can expect delays of up to 10 minutes.

Please allow extra time for your overnight travel through this area.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.
