Highway 1 Lane Closures Continue 10/19-10/24

Highway 1 Lane Closures Continue for Drainage Improvement Project

Caltrans will continue nighttime lane and ramp closures on Highway 1 between the Trafton Road Undercrossing in Monterey County and 0.2 miles north of Larkin Valley Road in Santa Cruz County as part of an ongoing drainage improvement project.

This work includes drainage improvements, road widening, the installation of new culverts, and lighting system upgrades to enhance safety and improve roadway reliability along the corridor.

Closures are scheduled for the week of Sunday, October 19, through Friday, October 24, 2025, as follows:

Sunday, October 19 (Nightwork):

  • Ramp closure at Highway 1 northbound on-ramp and lane closure at Main St./Highway 152 northbound on-ramp, 9:00 pm – 6:00 am
  • Lane closure at Highway 1 southbound near Mar Monte off-ramp, 10:00 pm – 6:00 am

Monday, October 20 (Nightwork):

  • Ramp closure at Highway 1 northbound on-ramp and lane closure at Main St./Highway 152 northbound on-ramp, 7:00 pm – 6:00 am
  • Lane closure at Highway 1 southbound near Mar Monte off-ramp, 9:00 pm – 6:00 am

Tuesday, October 21 (Nightwork):

  • Ramp closure at Highway 1 northbound on-ramp and lane closure at Main St./Highway 152 northbound on-ramp, 7:00 pm – 6:00 am
  • Lane closure at Highway 1 southbound near Mar Monte off-ramp, 9:00 pm – 6:00 am

Wednesday, October 22 (Nightwork):

  • Ramp closure at Highway 1 northbound off-ramp to Riverside Drive, 7:00 pm – 6:00 am

Thursday, October 23 (Nightwork):

  • Ramp closure at Highway 1 northbound off-ramp to Riverside Drive, 7:00 pm – 6:00 am

Anticipated Delays:

  • Travelers should expect delays during nighttime lane closures.
  • Bicycle and pedestrians’ access may be impacted in certain areas; detours and signage will be posted.

This $2.9 million project is being performed by Granite Construction of Watsonville and is expected to be completed by April 2026. Caltrans reminds travelers to slow down in work zones to ensure the safety of both workers and the community.
