Highway 1 One-Way Traffic Control at Waddell Bluff Continues 11/5

Published November 5, 2026

Daytime One-Way Traffic Control for Slope Stabilization Work on Highway 1 at Waddell Bluff Set to Continue Thursday, Nov. 5

Travelers will encounter daytime one-way traffic control near Waddell Beach due to slope stability work. Crews are removing excess rock fragments at the base of the steep rocky slope for erosion control and slope stabilization at Waddell Bluffs.

Work will result in one-way traffic control Monday-Friday from 7 am to 4 pm on Highway 1 from Post Mile 36.3 to Post Mile 37.5. Work is anticipated to be completed the end of this year.

The Waddell Bluffs northside has been completed. The south side is approximately halfway completed.

Message and directional signs will alert travelers in advance of the areas under traffic control. Travelers may experience delays of up to 10 minutes.

Road information and updates can also be found on Caltrans District 5 Social Media platforms: X/Twitter at: @CaltransD5, Facebook at: Caltrans Central Coast (District 5) and Instagram at: Caltrans_D5.

Our crews deserve to get home safely too. Drive slowly and carefully in work zones.
