Highway 1 Between Bay/Porter and Soquel Dr. Set for Overnight Lane and Ramp Closures Starting Sunday, May 4

Construction on a project to add north and southbound auxiliary lanes and bus-on-shoulder improvements on Highway 1 between the 41st Avenue and Soquel Drive interchanges and to aid in construction of a new bicycle and pedestrian overcrossing at Chanticleer Avenue will continue next week with overnight lane and ramp closures for striping activities.

Sunday, May 4

Travelers on southbound Hwy. 1 will encounter an overnight closure of the #2 and #3 lanes (the two far right lanes) between Soquel Dr. and Bay/Porter, from 10 pm to 6 am.

Travelers on northbound Hwy. 1 will encounter an overnight closure of the #2 (right) lane from 41st Ave. to beyond Soquel Dr. from 10 pm to 5 am.

Striping crews will also alternate closure of the 41st Ave. and Soquel Dr. offramps and the 41st Ave. loop onramp during these same hours.

Monday, May 5

Travelers on southbound Hwy. 1 will encounter an overnight closure of the #2 (right) lane from Soquel Dr. to Bay/Porter from 9 pm to 6 am.

During these same hours, striping crews will alternate closures of the on and offramps at the 41st Ave. interchange.

Please allow extra time for your travels through the area.

The Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) recently announced the opening of the new north and southbound auxiliary lanes between the 41st Avenue and Soquel Avenue/Drive interchanges, which mark a major milestone in the Watsonville to Santa Cruz Multimodal Corridor Program.
