Highway 1 Overnight Lane Closures for Bridge Work on 2/28

Published February 27, 2020

Bridge Work near Branciforte Avenue requires Overnight Lane Closures on Northbound Highway in Santa Cruz Tomorrow Night, Friday, Feb. 28

As part of a Methacrylate bridge deck construction project, northbound Hwy. 1 will require the overnight closure of the #2 (middle) and #3 (right) lanes from Branciforte Ave. to and including the northbound Hwy. 1 to northbound Hwy. 17 connector from tomorrow night, Friday, Feb. 28 from 9 pm to 6 am (Saturday).  A detour will be provided via electronic message signs.

Traffic delays of up to 10 minutes can be expected while bridge work takes place at Carbonera Creek Bridge, based on the length of time it takes to follow the detour. The methacrylate bridge deck work at this location is scheduled to be completed by Saturday morning, Feb. 29.

Note: The #1 (left) lane of northbound Hwy. 1 at this location will remain open; all southbound lanes will remain open as well.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.

For more information on this project and for traffic updates on other Caltrans projects in Santa Cruz County, residents may call the District 5 Public Affairs Office at (805) 549-3318 or visit Caltrans’ website.
