Overnight Lane Closures of Highway 1 Near Aptos Set to Begin Sunday, September 27
A project to construct a pedestrian overcrossing bridge at Mar Vista Drive near Aptos will result in overnight lane closures along Highway 1 starting Sunday, September 27.
Closures will take place in the far left lane (#1 lane) in both northbound and southbound directions of Highway 1 as follows:
- Highway 1 northbound will be reduced to one lane from the Aptos Creek Bridge to the Mar Vista Pedestrian Overcrossing/State Park Avenue on-ramp from 10 pm to 5 am.
- Highway 1 southbound will be reduced to one lane from the Park Avenue Bridge to the Mar Vista Pedestrian Overcrossing/State Park Avenue off-ramp from 11 pm to 6 am.
Crews will be working in the median behind k-rail grinding the existing asphalt. Community members in the area can expect loud noise during this construction phase.
Message and directional signs will alert travelers in advance of the areas under traffic control. Please allow extra time for your travels. These overnight lane closures will remain in place Sunday night through Friday morning for approximately three weeks.
