Published November 14, 2025

Highway 1 Ramp and Lane Closures Scheduled for Drainage Improvement Project

Caltrans will implement overnight ramp and lane closures on Highway 1 between the Trafton Road Undercrossing in Monterey County and 0.2 miles north of Larkin Valley Road in Santa Cruz County from Sunday, November 16, through Friday, November 21, 2025, as part of an ongoing drainage improvement and roadway enhancement project.

These closures support continued construction activity to improve drainage systems, enhance roadway reliability, and upgrade stormwater capacity along the corridor.

Closure Schedule:

Tuesday, November 18

  • Overnight (7:00 pm–6:00 am): Ramp and Lane 3 Closure at the Vista Point Off-Ramp, Hwy 1 southbound.

Wednesday, November 19

  • Overnight (7:00 pm–6:00 am): Ramp and Lane 3 Closure at the Vista Point Off-Ramp, Hwy 1 southbound.

Thursday, November 20

  • Overnight (7:00 pm–6:00 am): Ramp and Lane 3 Closure at the Vista Point Off-Ramp, Hwy 1 southbound.

Friday, November 21

  • Overnight: Work may continue depending on site conditions; schedule updates will be issued as needed.

Anticipated Delays:

Travelers can expect delays of up to 15 minutes due to ramp and lane closures. Portable message signs will be in place to inform travelers of current closures and detours.

This $2.9 million project is being performed by Granite Construction of Watsonville and is expected to be completed by April 2026. Caltrans reminds travelers to slow down in work zones to ensure the safety of both workers and the community.

Caltrans reminds travelers to allow extra travel time, reduce speeds in work zones, and follow posted signage to ensure the safety of workers.

Road information and updates can also be found on Caltrans District 5 Social Media platforms: X/Twitter at: @CaltransD5, Facebook at: Caltrans Central Coast (District 5) and Instagram at: Caltrans_D5.

Our crews deserve to get home safely too. Drive slowly and carefully in work zones.
