Highway 1 Ramp and Lane Closures Scheduled for Road Striping Operations
Caltrans will implement overnight ramp and lane closures on Highway 1 between Riverside and Larkin Valley Road from Sunday, December 7, through Friday, December 12, 2025, to support ongoing road striping operations and roadway maintenance.
These closures are part of continuous efforts to enhance roadway safety, improve traffic flow, and maintain road markings along the corridor. Closures will occur at various locations and times; not all closures will be simultaneous.
Closure Schedule:
Sunday, December 7 (Daywork)
- Moving closures from Riverside to Larkin Valley for road striping: NB starting at 8:00 pm, SB starting at 10:00 pm.
Monday, December 8 (Nightwork)
- Ramp closure: Riverside NB off-ramp (7:00 pm–6:00 am).
- Main Street/152 NB on-ramp closure and alternating lane closure (7:00 pm–6:00 am).
- Main Street/152 SB off-ramp closure (7:00 pm–6:00 am).
- Vista Point SB Lane 3 and off-ramp closure (7:00 pm–6:00 am).
- Mar Monte NB alternating lane and on-ramp closure (8:00 pm–6:00 am).
- Larkin Valley NB alternating lane closure (9:00 pm–6:00 am).
- Larkin Valley SB on-ramp and alternating lane closure (9:00 pm–6:00 am).
- Airport Blvd on-ramp and alternating lane closure (8:00 pm–6:00 am).
- Moving closures from Riverside to Larkin Valley for road striping (NB 8:00 pm, SB 10:00 pm).
Tuesday, December 9 (Nightwork)
- Lane 1 closure, Larkin Valley Road Hwy. 1 SB PM 6.69 (9:00 pm–6:00 am).
- Lane 2 closure, Marmonte Ave Hwy. 1 NB PM 7 (8:00 pm–6:00 am).
Wednesday, December 10 – Friday, December 12 (Nightwork)
- No scheduled overnight closures; work may continue depending on site conditions.
Anticipated Delays:
Travelers can expect delays on northbound Highway 1 due to lane and ramp closures. Portable message signs will be in place to provide real-time updates and detour information.
This $2.9 million project is being performed by Granite Construction of Watsonville and is expected to be completed by April 2026. Caltrans reminds travelers to slow down in work zones to ensure the safety of both workers and the community.
