Overnight Northbound Ramp Closure and Traffic Breaks on Highway 1
Caltrans has issued a permit for utility work that will require temporary closures and traffic breaks on Highway 1 at the Harkins Slough/Green Valley Road Overcrossing, just south of Watsonville.
Traffic control will be in effect from 11 pm on Saturday, August 2, until 12 noon on Sunday, August 3. This includes a full closure of the northbound on-ramp at Harkins Slough Road on Sunday morning, August 3 from 12:05 am to 12 noon. During this time, rolling traffic breaks will occur in both directions on Highway 1, restricted to daylight hours only between 6 am and 10 am. Additionally, one-way traffic control will be implemented on Harkins Slough Road, the surface street at the overcrossing.
Travelers may experience brief delays of up to 10 minutes and are encouraged to exercise caution in the area. A changeable message sign will be placed at the Highway 129 exit, and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) will assist with the traffic breaks.
