Highway 17 Offramp Closure Starts 6/16

Published June 11, 2025

Southbound Highway 17 Offramp at Sims Road to Close for Two Weeks Starting Monday, June 16

Travelers on southbound Highway 17 in Santa Cruz will encounter a closure of the Sims Road offramp starting Monday, June 16 at 8 pm. During this two-week closure crews will perform emergency drainage repairs.

In order to set the concrete barriers behind which the crews will be working, travelers will also encounter an overnight closure of the #2 (right) lane of southbound Hwy. 17 near Sims Road from Monday, June 16 at 8 pm until Tuesday, June 17 at 5 am.

Crews will replace 350 ft. of a damaged underground pipe system near the right shoulder which will remediate conditions beneath the roadway. Construction is expected to finish by July 1. Updates will be provided should there be changes to this schedule.

Make sure to allow for extra time during your commute through the area and please be alert for work zone activities.
