Highway 17 Overnight Closures for Sign Replacement Next Week
The southbound lanes of Highway 17 will be closed just north of the Interchange with Highway 1 (Fishhook) in Santa Cruz on Monday night, August 8 and Tuesday night, August 9 from 9 pm to 5 am. This closure is necessary to allow for the replacement of overhead directional signs. Travelers headed south on Hwy. 17 may detour onto the southbound Hwy. 1 off-ramp away from this work zone. Detour signs will assist motorists traveling through this area.
In addition, the No. 1 (left) lane of northbound Highway 1 near Hwy. 17 near the Fishhook will be closed on Monday, August 8 and Tuesday, August 9 from 9 pm until 5 am.
Travelers can expect delays of up to 15 minutes.
The contractor for this ongoing $245,000 project is Statewide Safety and Signs from Nipomo, CA. All roadwork in this multi-county project is expected to be complete by the end of this year, weather permitting.
Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.
