Highway 9 Between Paradise Park and Glengarry Road Set To Close During Daytime Hours Oct. 11 and Oct. 12

Travelers on Highway 9 next week will encounter a full closure of Highway 9 between the entrance to Paradise Park and Glengarry Road.

This closure will affect travelers in both the north and southbound direction of Highway 9.

The schedule for this closure will be from 8:30 am to 4 pm. on Tuesday Oct. 11 and Wednesday Oct. 12.

A detour is available via Graham Hill Road, which runs just east of Highway 9, and which will allow travelers to cover the distance between Santa Cruz and Felton.

CHP will be on hand to assist with traffic control.

Message and directional signs will be in place to assist travelers in the area.

Travelers can expect delays of up to 10 minutes.

Emergency vehicles will be able to pass through the closure limits. However, due to the movement of heavy machinery and vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists will not be able to travel through the closure.

This closure is necessary so that crews can stripe and repaint the area where work was performed last week.

Last week’s work included winter prep work along the route to include tree removal and ditch and culvert clearing. The network of culverts that undergird Hwy. 9 play a central role in keeping water and debris off the roadway. In conjunction with tree removal, the rehabilitation of this critical infrastructure enhances the safety of all travelers, especially during inclement weather.
