All lanes of northbound State Route 1 are now open following a traffic accident involving a big-rig truck which sustained a blown tire and crashed into at least 20 vehicles this morning in the city of Santa Cruz.

Highway 1 is closed to Northbound traffic from Ocean Street to River Street/Highway 9 in Santa Cruz due to a traffic collision — Motorists are advised to use an alternate route. Southbound Highway 1 is open.
Multi-vehicle collision — avoid Highway 1 towards River St in Santa Cruz
Please avoid highway 1/17/Ocean St area for the next 2 to 3 hours for a multi vehicle collision. Northbound Hwy 1 is closed from the Ocean St / Mission St split near the “fish-hook” to River St. We appreciate your patience.
