SAN BENITO COUNTY – A project to resurface and improve guardrail on State Route 156 continues with a 24/7 closure of the No. 2 (right) lane in each direction from US Highway 101 to the Alameda and is expected to last through the end of this week.
In addition, the No. 1 (left) lane in each direction on State Route 156 from US Highway 101 to the Alameda will be closed 24/7 for a two week period beginning Sunday evening, August 13. This lane closure is contingent upon completion of work on the No. 2 lanes.
Motorists will also encounter lane closures on State Route 156 in both directions weekdays during the daytime from 8 am until 4 pm and during the overnight hours from 7 pm until 6 am. Motorists will encounter delays not to exceed 15 minutes. The CHP will be present to assist with traffic control.
The contractor for this $5 million project is Graniterock Company of Watsonville, CA. This part of the project is expected to be complete by the end of August with the entire project scheduled to complete this November.
