Highway 9 Closure Begins 11/2

Published October 27, 2026

Full Daytime Closure of Highway 9 Near Santa Cruz set to Begin Monday, November 2

Travelers on Highway 9 near Santa Cruz will encounter full daytime closures at the south end of the highway during the week of November 2.

This full closure will take place Monday through Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm from Post Mile .80 through 4.45. The nearest cross streets for the closure include Glengarry Road on the northbound side and Paradise Park on the southbound side.

A detour will be available via Highway 17 or Graham Hill Road. Message and directional signs will alert travelers in advance of the areas under traffic control. Please allow for extra time for your travels through the area. Access will be maintained for emergency responders.

This full closure will allow crews to finish necessary work preparing for the winter weather. Crews will be cleaning drains, ditches, repairing shoulders and removing hazardous trees. Work is expected to be completed by Friday evening on Nov. 6.

Road information and updates can also be found on Caltrans District 5 Social Media platforms: X/Twitter at: @CaltransD5, Facebook at: Caltrans Central Coast (District 5) and Instagram at: Caltrans_D5.

Our crews deserve to get home safely too. Drive slowly and carefully in work zones.
