Highway 9 Overnight Closures 10/26-10/27

Published October 26, 2026

Full Overnight Closures of Highway 9 near Boulder Creek set to take place October 26 & 27

Travelers on Highway 9 near Boulder Creek will encounter a full overnight closure Monday, October 26 and Tuesday, October 27.

The highway will be closed overnight Monday, October 26 from 8 pm to 6 am at San Lorenzo River Bridge. The closure limits will be from Riverdale Blvd to Monaco Lane as crews erect precast concrete box girders.

In addition, the highway will be closed overnight Tuesday, October 27 from 7 pm to 6 am at Kings Creek Bridge from Pool Dr. to Primavera/Old County Hwy as crews erect precast concrete box girders.

A detour will be available via Highway 17. Message and directional signs will alert travelers in advance of the areas under traffic control. Please allow for extra time for your travels through the area. Community members in the area can expect noise overnight associated with this closure.

The current temporary signals will return to 24/7 signalized one-way control the morning of October 27 and October 28. The one-way traffic control supports the Highway 9 San Lorenzo River and Kings Creek Bridge Replacement Project taking place north of Boulder Creek and involves the full replacement of these bridges for the safety of the traveling public. Crews are in the first phase of the project where they close the southbound lane to replace the southbound portion of the bridges below.

  • King’s Creek Bridge Replacement / Post Mile 15.41 to 15.55
  • San Lorenzo River Bridge Replacement / Post Mile 13.58 to 13.6

This is one of several full overnight closures to take place during these two bridge replacement projects. Updates will continue to be provided as these closures take place.

Road information and updates can also be found on Caltrans District 5 Social Media platforms: X/Twitter at: @CaltransD5, Facebook at: Caltrans Central Coast (District 5) and Instagram at: Caltrans_D5.

Our crews deserve to get home safely too. Drive slowly and carefully in work zones.
