Highway 9 Closure Starting 10/4 – 10/8

Published September 28, 2021

Full Closure on Highway 9 set for Next Monday through Friday between Paradise Park and Glengarry Road

A maintenance project that will take place next week to prepare drainage infrastructure ahead of winter storms will require a full daytime closure of Highway 9 between Paradise Pak and Glengarry Road.

A full daytime closure of Highway 9 will take place from Monday October 4 through Friday October 8, from 7 am to 4 pm, between Paradise Park and Glengarry Road.

A detour is available via Graham Hill Road.

Emergency vehicles will still be permitted to travel through the work area during this closure.

However, due to the size and quantity of the machinery involved inside this closure, no pedestrian or bicycle traffic will be permitted to pass through the closure area.

CHP will be on hand to assist with traffic control.

Message and directional signs will be in place to assist travelers in the area.

Travelers can expect 10 to 15-minute traffic delays and, again, Graham Hill Road is a viable alternate route during these daytime closure hours.

This closure will permit Caltrans crews to perform drainage clearing and other essential winter preparation work.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.

For traffic updates on other state highways in Santa Cruz County, travelers may contact Caltrans District 5 Public Affairs at 805-549-3318 or can visit the District 5 website.
