For the week of July 9, there will be a full overnight closure of southbound Highway 1 between Soquel Dr. and 41st Ave. on Wednesday July 12, from 10 pm to 5:30 am.
This full closure will allow crews to safely remove an overhead sign which extends over both southbound lanes just before the 41st Ave. offramp.
Travelers on southbound Highway 1 will be able to access a detour via Soquel Ave.
Message and directional signs will be in place to assist travelers.
Travelers can expect delays of up to 10 minutes.
During this closure, the northbound #2 (right) lane will also be closed.
For other days of work this week, crews will continue with daytime grading, as well as foundation drilling, and drainage work behind K-rail.

For the week of June 18, travelers overnight on southbound Highway 1 between Soquel Drive and 41st Avenue will encounter alternating lane closures from 9 pm to 6 am, on either June 18 or June 19. Crews will work overnight to complete installation of concrete barriers known as K-rail.
Daytime construction will continue on northbound Hwy. 1 next week behind this K-rail. Crews will work to clear shrubs and stumps and install reinforced concrete piles which will serve as supports for the future bicycle and pedestrian overcrossing at Chanticleer Avenue. Crews will also start work on two of the three retaining walls that will allow for widening the roadway. This construction will take place Monday through Friday from 7 am to 4 pm. On days when crews pour concrete, work will start at 6 am and may go past 4 pm.

For the week of June 12, travelers headed northbound on Highway 1 between 41st Avenue and Soquel Drive will encounter alternating lane closures during the overnight hours from Sunday June 12 through Friday morning June 16, from 9 pm to 5 am. Travelers headed southbound will encounter similar closures from 9 pm to 6 am. Overnight work will include re-striping to shift lanes towards the median for installation of concrete barriers known as K-rail.
Daytime construction will continue next week on the reinforced concrete piles which will serve as supports for the future bicycle and pedestrian overcrossing at Chanticleer Avenue. This construction will take place Monday through Friday from 7 am to 4 pm. On days when crews pour concrete, work will start at 6 am and may go past 4 pm. These piles are located along the outside shoulder of both northbound and southbound Hwy 1 and adjacent to Soquel Ave. Additional daytime work includes clearing shrubs and stumps from the northbound shoulder.
There will be no daytime lane closures in effect including during the graduation ceremonies at UC Santa Cruz slated to take place between June 15 and 18.
