Overnight Lane Closures on Mission Street Begin 5/16

Published May 16, 2023

Overnight Lane Closures in Santa Cruz on Mission St. (Hwy.1) to Begin Tonight at Olive St. and Berkshire Ave.

A project to enhance safety for pedestrian crossings on Mission St. (Hwy. 1) in Santa Cruz will result in overnight lane closures which begin tonight.

On Monday May 15 and Tuesday May 16, travelers on north and southbound Mission St. in Santa Cruz will encounter an alternating closure of one lane in each direction, at Olive St. and Berkshire Ave. from 8 pm to 6 am.

On Wednesday May 17 and Thursday May 18, travelers will encounter an alternating closure of one lane in each direction of Hwy. 1 at Bellevue St./Averett St. and Trescony St. from 8 pm to 6 am.

Travelers can expect delays of up to 10 minutes.

These lane closures will permit crews to perform electrical work in support of replacing flashing lights with pedestrian hybrid beacons, while also installing signs and pavement markings.

The contractor for this $286,000 project is Traffic Loops Crackfilling, Inc. of Anaheim, CA.

Road information and updates can also be found on Caltrans District 5 Social Media platforms: Twitter at: @CaltransD5, Facebook at: Caltrans Central Coast (District 5) and Instagram at: Caltrans_D5.

Our crews deserve to get home safely too.  Drive slowly and carefully in work zones.
